Removing 38 gallon gas tank 2005 F250 - sending unit problem

I was going to lift the bed but 4 of the bolts won't bunge and the torx bit slipped out of one slightly messing up the hole. So while they soak in penetrant I'm considering plan B. Other than emptying the tank. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Like if I drop the tank will it be yanking on wires and hoses. It looks straight forward from the bottom. Remove straps and lower tank? Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks,

When i lowered mine i used a floor jack with a 2x4 strapped to it and then i strapped the tank to the 2x4.
-first remove the two screws that hold the filler cap to the side of the bed
-remove skid plate
-Remove tank straps
-lower tank a few inches, then get your body between the driveshaft and tank and disconnect the wire harness and vent line
-lower tank and remove
-install in reverse order

Also the vent line uses 1/2 thin wall rubbernon my 04 with under 80k the rubber hose pieces were completely rotted away so i went to the auto parts store and bought fuel injection hose now the gas fumes wont rot the hose and i now dont have to worry about them for at least fifty years LOL

Your list reads very easy but the actual activity is not. How do you remove the fuel lines from the top of the fuel pump? I have these tools but neither seem to be working. Frustration has set in.

Yes you need the quick connect tools like you have. On my plastic set the blue one is the correct size, slip the tool over the metal line and then slid the lip into the fitting sometimes you have to wiggle the line a little and then while you push the tool into the fitting the stainless fingers will unlock and the fuel line will slid off the lip on the hard line. I know it must be hard to understand but youll see once its off
