How hard is it to drop gas tank
How hard is it to drop a gas tank from 2001 F250 short bed? It is a gasoline, not a diesel truck. I need to remove the filler neck to modify it and I cannot disconnect the hose from the neck filler to the tank while the tank is in the installed position. So, I want to drop it so I can have more leverage to pull it off or cut it off and put new one on.
Thanks,

Open fill cap and remove screws on bed side, remove spare tire and get up between axle and frame and unplug wire harness to tank, unclamp vent hose to evap system, remove skid plate bolts if optioned, i bolt a 4x4 to my floor jack and then use ratchet straps to hold tank to 4x4, then remove bolts for tank straps and they swing out of the way, slowly lower tank and wiggly free, lower all the way down and roll it out from under the truck

I had mine out twice in a row, they gave me the wrong pump assembly. I had two 6x6 blocks , one for each end. Put a floor jack in the center, used a 2x6 chunk between the tank and jack. raised jack up to the tank. Remove the fill and vent hoses, remove the tank straps. let the tank down till it rests on the blocks on each end. this gives you a ton of room to unhook the vent, wiring and hoses on the top of the tank. then let the tank the rest of the way down .
I had the tank empty, remove the fuel pump fuse and start the truck to vent pressure in the lines. My truck is a standard 250 CC it was high enough I didn't jack it up. I did this twice by myself so help would be great but, its doable.

Lifting it with an engine lift is the easiest way and doesn't require help. One of my dad's friends was lowering a tank on a jack set up and it fell over, hit his lamp, covered him with gas and set him on fire. Freak accident for sure, but enough to make me want an extra hand around when I lower a tank.
