'Wait To Start' light stopped coming on...

This morning (cold morning) I went to start my 96 F250 7.3L and it turned over like normal with a little bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust like normal too... I turned the key a couple more times to get it started and all the sudden the usual 'Wait to start' light on the dash doesn't come on anymore and I'm getting no smoke at all while it's turning over now...

Another funny thing I have a diagnostics tool from Edge Products so I figured plugging that in would diagnose the problem, but for some reason it was never even able to connect to the PCM! It just kept saying turn the key off, turn the key on over & and over again...

Anyone had any similar problems to this or does anyone have a solution perhaps?

Good chance it'll blow again. There's a heating element in the fuel bowl which shorts out, and blows that fuse. In their infinite wisdom, Ford put the PCM and that heater on the same fuse. Heater was designed into the bowl in the early '90s, and winter fuel has improved (wrt anti-gelling, anyway) greatly since then. With good fuel, and an anti-gel additive for good measure, you don't need the heater. If the fuse blows again, disconnect the heater; connector is on the driver's side of the fuel bowl, single-wire flat blade terminal, red/green wire.

Ahh thank you! Learning about how diesel engines operate with this 96 f250, had to replace the 'glow plug relay' so far.... I wonder if I could find a picture of this fuel bowl connector on google...thanks for the help!

It is on the driver side of the fuel bowl. The connector in the middle of the three if I remember correctly.

The large aluminum housing right in the middle of the engine where the fuel filter goes. It has a large round black cap on it.

That's not it. That's the fuel restriction sensor. The fuel heater plug is down lower on the side of the aluminum housing.
