292 Motor mounting question

I am in the process of preparing a 292 y block out of a 1963 F100 for installation in my 1955 F100. Today I noticed the front motor mount bracket from the 292 (1963) is different from the one on my 1955. And it will not match up with the holes in the cross member. My first thought was to change motor mount brackets, but the 1955 style wont fit behind the single groove crankshaft pulley on the 1963. My next thought was to change pulley wheels, but the, the 1955 pulley wont line up with the newer style water pump pulley. Is my only option, to also change to the older style water pump with the independent fan pulley on another belt? I hope someone understands what I am asking. ughh.

You need a 56 front mount as it will clear the 63 style balancer/pulley, I will look to see if I have any left. Its been a while, but on the 55 style and HD 56 style you have to pull the balancer to remover the mount bracket. Can you pull the balancer off the 63 and install the 55 mount then reinstall the balancer? cant remember if it will work or not

The bracket from the 63 has a cut out to accept the balancer. The bracket for the 55 does not have the cut out, and as a result, if I put it behind the 55 balancer, it will hit the bracket before seating properly. So I'm guessing while they use the same motor mount, the bracket for the 55 is different than the 56. Is that true? If so, I will need to locate a bracket for a 56. Thanks

I know absolutely nothing about the difference in motor mounts so I don't know if it would help or not, but if you'd like I could take some pics of my setup since I have a 292 in my 55.

That would be great. Does your engine have the older style water pump where the fan pulley is on a separate belt, or the newer style water pump where the fan pulley is right on the water pump?

56 uses a balancer like the 63 (one groove pulley) 56 light duty (f100) has the water pump mounted fan like the 63 too, and that's why a 56 mount will work

I must have made a dozen phone calls today trying to find one (56 motor mount bracket) and came up empty. I tried: Joblot, half ton fun, Green Sales, fifty, Macs, Dennis Green, etc.

I examined the bracket from the 55 and may be able to grind off the two extrusions that are blocking the harmonic balancer from being able to seat on the crank properly. That is my last resort, but may end up the last option.
