wont start!!!! HELP

I have a 1990 f150, c6 transmission and a 4.9 6 cylinder, put it in reverse this morning and heard a clunk then it died, wont start in park or reverse....HELP!!!!

What happens when you turn the key to the start position? Spins over but won't start? No noise at all? Acts like the starter wants to spin the engine but can't?

Does it make any noise at all when you turn the key to the start position?

somebody put a push button start on it....not sure if it spins, I know he says it doesnt crank at all....thought it was nuetral safety switch but now dont think so...starter maybe??
