Location preference for remote master cylinder reservoir (pictures?)

Hello Amigos,

I've got one more request from the group here. There is plenty of past discussion on the necessity, or lack thereof, of a Remote Reservoir for the Master Cylinder, but I can't seem to find many pictures (only 3 come to mind after reading a lot of posts) of people that have decided to install one with their under floor booster/master.

If one decides to use the remote reservoir, it seems the least expensive route is CPP's cap, hoses, and plastic reservoir (on ebay for $75 shipped).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MASTER-CYLINDER-REMOTE-FILL-RESERVOIR-CAP-KIT-CHEVY-FORD-STREET-ROD-HOT-ROD-/261461194286?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ce04d362e&vxp=mtr
If I decide to go this route, I'm wondering where you guys would recommend that I install the plastic reservoir? It would be cool to buy a billet reservoir, but if I get this kit, I will probably just use the plastic one for now.

Is the firewall the most common location? In the cab?

Thanks for any pictures and input on remote reservoir location

I bought a plastic triple chamber from summit (2 brake 1 clutch). Am mounting it on drivers side of firewall. Sorry no pics yet.

I wouldn't install one inside the cab. There would be too much carpet and other things to ruin if the hose were to leak.

I haven't installed one on my '53 (yet), but I've installed one on an M35A2 deuce and a half. It is on the firewall.

This picture doesn't do you much good, as it is a much bigger truck, and a single chamber reservoir.

I say the firewall, easiest access. I mounted the one in my 33 chev in the trunk, but always think about it when I have something in there

No confusion Mike. It was Schuyler asking about inside the cab.

Dangit! I thought I was gonna sneak by!

Thanks for the pics and suggestions everyone. Looks like a simple spot on the firewall is probably what I'll end up doing too.

Now I want a fancy aluminum one...

The problem with the aluminum reservoirs is that you have to open them to check the fluid level (unless they have a sight window . . . which I haven't seen yet). The plastic ones can be checked at a glance.

Master Cylinder Reservoir

Little pricey but they match my scheme of things. The bracket are extra also. I also just like the mooneye tanks

I used those same ones in my 40. Be sure to lube the o ring's well, I use vasoline on mine. Didn't do it when I installed mine and had a hard time unscrewing the caps.

Remote Brake Fluid Reservoir

Greetings,

I have installed a remote fill reservoir on the firewall of my 1950 F-1 but filled the master cylinder before installing the remote fill. My question is that I am not sure how it is supposed to work. How do you tell by looking into it how full the master cylinder is. Do you keep some brake fluid in it at all times?
Photo attached.
Thanks
