4.6L 2003 ford explorer high temp low oil light on temp pegged
I've searched about this and it seems people just replace things until it stops or give up..
This truck will start and run rough high temp low oil light come on and temp gauge is pegged hot. Oil gauge is fine though, checked oil its fine.
I checked coolant resivior its ok.
If I shut truck off and restart it will run ok and rev like normal and then all of a sudden go into limp mode and will misfire etc...
Has anyone pin pointed the issue with this yet?
What sensor seems to be the main culprit?cht sensor???

So i pulled the cht sensor out and noticed the pig tail connector that goes form the sensor to the driver side valve cover(where it connects again) was wet inside. No trace of coolant around the area though....
what ohms do these cht sensors need to measure with a vu meter?
also has anyone trouble shooted the cht sensor by disconnecting the pigtail(dummy temp sensor does not read when its disconnected) to see if the limp mode goes away? I never got a chance to try this because I already took the serp belt off and alternator. So I wasnt able to disconnect it to see if the truck would run without the wire connected. has anyone tried that before?
