Who has the best price on an HD4R100?
So my newly rebuilt tranny (maybe 3K miles on the 2nd rebuild in under 2 years) is slipping badly and my brand new Schaeffers fluid is burnt smelling. I am not hopeful that the shop that rebuilt it is going to do right by me again so I am going to be proactive at this point. Any pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Silver state Ford shows it for $3726.67 MSRP, $3074.50 online price.
Part number- 6U2Z7V000
A few years back I priced one from my local dealer and they wanted around $3200 IIRC + $1200 for installation. They "claimed" that they have to install it or I wouldn't get the 3 year 100k warranty? But I've heard that isn't necessarily true.
Here is what Ford Parts.com says.
Now you know why I spent my $4500 at BTS.

I just got a BTS this week and it is Awesome!!!!!!.It shifts so smoth it's like there is only one gear, other than hearing the RPM's change. Mine was on its last leg. They will ship you a tranny and you or your mechanic can put it in. I think the price for just the tranny was around $4500, don't know what shipping would be.

Just a heads up. The transmission shop found the problem, and warrantied the issue. It turned out to be the torque converter that was just put in the end of April was faulty and was eating itself up. They found metal shavings in the filter and on the magnet. So they pulled it all apart, replaced the solenoid pack, put everything in the parts washer, inspected everything said it was good, replaced the torque converter and buttoned her all back up. I have had it back for over a week and it is shifting very well. It hasn't felt this good since the 160/30% injectors went in. I am looking forward to a good snow season with strong running engine and transmission. It's been a while since I had that expectation...fingers crossed.

Yeah, me too. Ford trans $4700+ this one literally cost me $47 for a new shifter cable THIS time. I had about $3800 in it already not counting the money I put in for Schaeffers synthetic tranny fluid back in April when they had it apart, so closer to $4,100...

Jason I'm glad to hear that the trans shop stood behind their work and made right on it. Did they install a stock t.c. or a billet cover t.c. ? Local trans builders in most cases really don't have a clue how to fix the design flaws in the 4r100 they just rebuild them to factory spec and send them out the door. Which really is no fault of theirs they just don't know. So if this one does hold up I would save your pennies and get a BTS or JW if your plans are to keep the truck for the long haul. And I have a good feeling you'll have a good plow season this year. You've put alot of time and money in your truck you deserve it to do it's job this year.
