damaged my spray in bedliner wondering what to do

I took a quarter sized chunk out of the Line X liner on my truck. I haven't called Line X yet, but can this small area even be repaired? Thankfully it's on the access cover for the tailgate and not the box.

I need to do something with it because I noticed that the edge around the opening has lifted a bit and I'm afraid water will get behind and cause rust. I thought about just taking some black gasket maker and filling the area, but that really won't be a permanent fix.

As it is just the access cover I would stop by a line x right away. I know I could do without that cover for a few days. See if you can leave it ask them when they do their next bed job to fix it up for you. Line x comes out at over 200* F. It would cost a lot for them to fire up the machine for such a little job but included with another job you might get out dirt cheap.

For that small a spot as well as the easily removed panel, I would just go to my local parts store and pick up a can of their best aerosol stuff. It would be nice to have Linex redo it but in my case, too much of my wasted time and possibly money from my personal local experiences. They are NOT very charitable

i have tried the at home spot repair and although it works and makes the chip area look black again it is hard to get the same thickness and texture as original spray in

depends on how picky you are, having the color and edges sealed up does help and it will look less obvious with time

i had that happen so much in past trucks in my recent one i didn't have the tailgate sprayed but bought a factory cover and use a factory bed mat

If you are the one that paid your local LineX dealer to do the job, I would still just stop by there and check with them... Most businesses would probably want to have the good karma and maintain a solid customer relationship when it costs them very little to do...

Not for damage it's not. If it's peeling off or turning colors they'll redo the truck. But if it's damaged and the surrounding material is properly adhered you will be paying for it.

I don't think they will cover this since it wasn't a defect. I got careless throwing ladder stands in the box and the corner of one gouged the liner. I'll probably try to give Line X a call this week and see what they say about getting it in to fix the spot. The dealer I used is 60miles away but they are pretty busy so maybe they can work the part in with something else the same day I drop it off.

If it's going to end up having to be something where I drop it off and come back a few days later I'll probably just buy a DIY kit and touch it up with that. I'm not going to burn all that gas driving back and forth just to fix a small spot.

My rhino dealer has fixed two spots on my bed for free both times. First i ripped a nice half dollar size circle off the tailgate from sliding a 12ft aluminum boat out of the truck, second time a grill propane bottle come loose rolled around and chunked the wheel well down to the factory paint. Both spots were fixed within minutes and you cant even see the repairs
