2000 timing cover on a 96

Will a timing cover off of a 2000 7.3 work on a 96? If not what mods are needed to do this or is it even possible

Why would you want to swap front covers anyways?

I can't see why it wouldn't work. But I don't know for sure. The hpops on the 94-5 was different than the 96-7. The 94 hpop had a check valve in the hpop and the 96 has it in the block. I don't know if the passages at the same through the covers or not. That probably why most on here are a little unsure if this is doable. I'm sure someone knows just hasn't seen the post

Check the surface where the hpop goes on.the earluer cover is very different.the gaskets are very different.if you have the wrong one it will leak down fast from the resivour.compate the old and new pattern.its very obvious

You'll have hpo leak down using the 96+ hpop
Using the 94.5-95 front cover you'll have to use the 94.5-95 hpop and gasket
