axle swap question.

Sorry if this has been asked before but i couldnt find anything. I have 75 highboy and my rear dana 60 is pretty beat up. it leaks and the brakes are totally rusted away and the drum is cracked. Ive been thinking a decided instead of trying to fix it im just gonna swap axles. I found a dana 60 off a 78 f350 pretty close by $150 he said it worked when he last drove the truck and it looks pretty nice. So what im wondering is if a Dana 60 off a 1978 f350 will fit my 1975 f250 highboy, and if so what all will i have to change thanks.

I think the leaf spring pads will need to be relocated inboard to match your Highboy's narrower frame width.

It should... a Dana 60 is a Dana 60 for the most part. Bring a tape measure with ya.

Gearing differences between the old front and new rear axle is something to consider. A big ratio spread can cause binding issues in the drive line when in 4wd.

Yes tape measure ck the leaf spring pad widths on the old versus the new axle.

Maybe, just maybe the axle ID tag is still bolted to the cover of the new axle? If not the old mark on the d/s and spin the tire and count trick is in order.
