Aftermarket Springs or Add a leaf

I just picked up this truck and want to get the ride a little softer. I just came from a 97 same truck different transmission. The ride on it was much better. This one is a 90 460, is this factory springs with an add a leaf

Stock springs as far as I can tell. I think it's the tires and/or the air pressure.

Tough to get a F350 to ride very good…

If you want to have a more comfortable and softer ride, you will need the RSK with SD springs up front, and SD springs in back. Good matched shocks as well.
Diesel Brad has done a few, and might chime in with more/better info.

I've got the SD springs in the rear, will get the RSK for the front soon. The SD springs soak up the smaller imperfections on the roads and back roads.

SD = super duty
RSK = reverse shackle kit

Can't go wrong with the super duty springs. Especially up front. Like the guy said above, may be tough to get the ride your looking for but the super duty springs definitely help.

looks like it has a lift on it. Front should be 2 leafs stock and should be flat or straight not arched.

FYI, those front springs are LIFT springs and that is Part of why it rides like crap. You also have a drop pitman arm and drop track bar mount.
Stock front are 2 leaves, stock rear is 5 leaves.

You can Get a MUCH better than STOCK ride from these trucks!!

A RSK(reverse shackle kit) is a MUST. This moves the front spring shackle from behind the bumper to under the front cab mount. This allows the spring to move UP when you hit a bump, unlike the stock design that shoves the TRUCK up.

SKY, ORU and PMF all make RSKs. The problem is the only one that makes one for YOUR TRUCK(80-91) is ORU. They sell a plate to box the frame and allow the use of their RSK. Sky and PMF make them for the 92-97 trucks(boxed frame). Sky makes one for use of standard OBS springs(80-97) and SD slings(99-04). PMF ONLY makes a RSK for the use of SD springs.

My recommendation to get the best ride it to use SD U or D code springs in the front. BoX the frame and use One of the 3 RSKs I mention(I prefer the PMF). Not that hard to box your frame.

get some B code rear springs(from a SuperDuty) as will to round it out,

her is my 96 with PMF 2.25" RSK, U code front springs and B code rear springs and 35" tires. And it rides like a Lincoln

Yea I did not think it was stock. The ride is way to hard. I come from a 97 crew 4x4 and the ride was much better. I know these trucks don't ride great but my seat has the only spring in this ride and a speed bump will bounce me to the roof.

I stand corrected… I guess I was thinking it's hard to get an F350 to ride good with stock parts.

Now back to our reguar programming.

This is my exact RSK and spring choice. Which shocks do you suggest?

Leo,
Id go with billstein! thats what i have and brad has as well

and my 97 has the 2.25 pmf with u codes in front and stock obs in the rear with a inch bigger block.

I am a avid believer in this setup, IT JUST MAKES SENSE.

truck rides and behaves a worlds better , i have had mine on a little over a year and will never look back,

here is a pic of my 97 which like brads rides amazing

and a pic of how the pmf setup looks

Do you have a Bilstein model/part number?

Someday I'll install my intercooler, so I'll need to drill the additional holes. Is that what you did? Is there a third or fourth bolt head on the inside of the frame being hidden in the picture?

Picked the pieces up from my local powder coater yesterday…springs show up today!
