Under Rear Seat Steal Fold Out Floor Protector (what's it for?)

I just bought an 06 F250. Under the back seat I found it has this fold out steal plate that covers pretty much the entire floor. I owned an 02 F250 several years ago, my brother owns an 02 F350 and my dad has owned an 02 and a 2014 F350. None of us have ever seen this. I'm guessing it is used to give a heavy duty surface to transport stuff on but I'm not really sure. Is anyone familiar with this and it's purpose?

When ever my seat is not being used, I'll fold this out for buckets of tools , so I don't mess up the seat But that's only when it's raining. a few times the Dog got to sit there on a towel

I appreciate the feedback. I'm thinking about replacing it with an under seat tool box. Not sure yet. Don't know how much I will actually use this.

works very well for hauling groceries also, especially if you live in an area where it rains a lot

I use mine all the time for tools, parts that I don't want on the carpet. My latest use for them I loaded 23 80lb bags of concrete on them (had trailer tire failed and a slide in camper in the bed.). Yes I made a mess but they held up great and still work normally. That's what 1840lbs of weight lol. But it got them to the jobsite and got things done.

I LOVE that thing!!

It's a GREAT flat area for the dog mat, and just about anything else you want to put in there!!

good hauling place for tools ect in cardboard boxes ect easier to get emplaced and remove from truck too

right now, I have my road hunting kit and two cardboard boxes with game bags, snacks, spare (dry) clothes, hunting regs, ect.

and still have half of the seat available for tossing hat while driving

makes a fairly comfortable short bed out of the weather, if need to sleep somewhere while on a trip

Good place for stacking cases of pop when going to Costco.
The slide much better and don't fall off the seat in a fast stop.
Have you ever had to pick up heavy boxes after a fast stop
when they fell off the seats? It can be a mess.

I had a 5 gallon bucket of tools on the seat for awhile left a mark on the seat, some lady stopped in front of me and well I had to pick up all my stuff off the floor . If you take them out you will have more room under the seat . I really like the fact I could fold seat up and put wet stink dog on that instead

Would have loved to see a picture of that, used to haul about 20 80#ers in the back of my Durango and that really worked it hard LOL
