Blowing 15 Amp fuse on 1984 e-350 w/460 auto
hi everyone. I have been searching for a solution to my problem with this 15 amp fuse blowing just as soon as I turn key to on or run position.
a little background:
1984 ford e350 460 auto carbed 4bbl
all house rv 12 volt aux system is out of the loop now.
I was getting a high voltage out of batteries with voltmeter approx. 18 volts,
alternator wasn't maintaining engine system when I disconnected battery while running the van would die.
I replaced regulator and alternator. the van also had isolator for charging batteries. it is out of loop as well now.
I am upgrading system to include solar power and battery bank, that is why I justified removing the outdated and questionable install and "fixes" and additions over past 30 years.
I want the van to start and run on the basic ford ds2 ignition module.
What would cause the 15 amp fuse to blow on this system when the key is turned to run or on position? No Cranking of engine it just blows or burns out. I grounded the alt, batt, block, and chassis and firewall to block.
new ignition switch new alt, new regulator,
it will turn over just fine I have approx. 8 volts to coil in run pos.
it will start but dies immediately like starving for fuel. I have read post after post to no avail.
it was running fine until I figured out it wasn't charging batteries
please help.
John
