Trans replacement

hey guys im diesel bagger and just got a 98 f-150 as a work truck and the trans is leaking pretty bad from the front seal. i put on lots of km for work and cant afford a brake down so i orderd a rebuilt and have it sitting in the shop hoping to get it changed out this weekend. i know on my 1 tons when you do a trans you have to replace the cooler, ford deems it uncleanable. (7.3l) can i get away with a quick flush on this one. really dont want to have it drop a trans because i didnt approche the cooler properly. the truck is 2 wd with a 6 banger. any advice would help thanks.

I replaced my 6 cylinder 2wd trans just over a year ago. way easier than 4wd. Mine didn't have a cooler, so I installed a cheapie one from the parts store ($30). If the trams isn't failing, but is just leaking, I can't see why the cooler would need replacing. Heck, replacing the front seal in the original isn't that bad compared to the whole trans and would be a lot cheaper. But if you're concerned, remove the factory cooler and plumb in an aftermarket. Way cheaper and solves the worry.

Good luck.
