The long search has ended, new truck in hand.

For years I have been waiting for the right opportunity to present itself for an affordable, clean OBS Powerstroke diesel to come on the market, and finally that day has come. Meet the latest addition, my 96 (the black one). Everything on it works, not a single drop of fluid leaking underneath, keyless entry. I picked it up for $5000.

Wow! What a beaut! Congrats on picking up such a clean ride. Hard to find them in that kind of condition. Pics look great too. Love seeing pics of the beautiful trucks the forum members have!

Thanks guys. That is the one scary part about it, it's right at 300k. I know for some of these 7.3's that's nothing. This is actually the first diesel I've ever owned, with that being said I'm not unfamiliar to them. Everything checked out to me, it sounds right, drives right and nothing seems out of place. It drives so much smoother and more comfortably than my 93 with 50k less miles.

The mechanical parts on the engine are just broke in, everything else is nearing the end of its life.

But obviously it was cared for to be in that kind of condition

I am going to be making a list of things that need to be gone through and start inspecting everything and replacing what needs to be done. Anything that I should be looking for in-particular?

That truck looks to be in better shape than mine was with 79500 miles. If it were me, I'd repack wheel bearing and inspect rear diff/change it's oil. Of course check front end parts (ball joints, tie rod ends). Probably change coolant, motor oil, trans oil, tcase fluid, fuel filter, and run her. Nice rig man! Take her to 500k

Wow that truck is really clean for 300K miles. I kind of think you over paid for that kind of mileage though..... Just my opinion

Complete engine harness
injectors
radiator
IDM
Vale cover gaskets,
Under valve cover harnesses(UVCH)
Door panels, seats, dash pad, door hinges
COMPLETE suspension(worn bushings,springs,etc)
Auto trans in stock form is only really good for 100k. So I will assume it has had one or 2 already..

Everyone just thinks because the engine runs a long time the rest of the truck does too. But they wear out just like every other truck

Around here I couldn't find one in similar condition for less than 7500. But they're worth what someone is willing to pay for them, and I felt the price was good.

Alright, I had most of that in mind already. Thanks!
