somebody has had to have done this

Doing top end overhaul on 1991 f150 efi 4.9l 6cyl , just got head back from mach shop and need to go over rocker arm adj. as most of you know you can't adj with motor running due to air plenum in the way of valve cover to re-install after adj. it's been a long time since I've done this so looked up you tube video on it. basically i rotate motor until each respective rocker arm is at to point the valve is closed (up) and tighten rocker until push rod has "0" lash or play and tighten an additional half turn does this sound right. also the lifters were fine so i did not replace them, they should still be primed or pumped up. can i place them in a can of oil and pre-prime them again to be sure. any thoughts are always appreciated. First 4.9, changing timing gears, seals ect. 117,000 on odometer anything else to look for while it's out of the truck you can recommend again thanks.

When I rebuilt my '89 300 the rocker arms were just a simple bolt down so torque it to spec and go. Your's should be the same, unless it's the stud and nut style but that should be the older 300s.

The torque spec for the rocker arm bolt is 17-23 ft. lbs. No adjustment… just tighten down.
