Lowering my 55 Ford F 100 front end
#2
I have done three F-100's with the volare, and have liked all of them. Currently my 55 panel has one. Easy swap, the ride brings out the rear end deficiencies. Would use fatman's lowering spindles, to allow to stay low but keep the adjustability. The only con's are you should move the motor off center towards the passenger side 1 3/4" to clear steering box. The sway bar is a small diameter and needs to be upped, addco sold one a few years back. The torsion bars are getting more difficult to find, I have not had to replace any of the ones I have done. The last front end I got cost 250.00 complete so cost can't be beat.
I have used the 74-76 volare and the 74-76 Dodge Aspen

On my 55 panel I used a 76 Dodge Aspen station wagon
On the 56 pick-up I used a 74 plymouth Volare
On a friends 54 pick-up I used a 75 Volare
I learned this swap from a classic truck 1980 tech article. Also my first actual experience was with a friend of mine. He started one on his 56 on a friday morning and by 5 the next day he was driving. He did not want to be low so he used the stock mounting pads and adapted them to his frame, a direct bolt on.
