AC in a 67

Can I swap in a factory AC unit from a 71 into my 67? The climate controls are all different I see. I am not concerned about the plumbing, just the controls. I am guessing that if I make some custom length cables I should be able to control the feet or defroster.

If not, I will likely just dump this unit on CL for a few bucks. I have the whole box, but the lines were cut on the engine prior to me getting there. I have the compressor from my original 4.6 motor, so I will be good there.

1968/72 F100/350: Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are in the same panel as the heater controls.

1967 used a one year only heater, the dash is also 1967 only. AFAIK, you cannot use the 1968/72 A/C in a 1967.

1967 used the same 'hang-on' A/C as 1965/66 F100/250, the chrome bezel is the same as 1963/65 Fairlane/Falcon and 1965/66 Mustang.

Can't tell from your description, is it a complete system?

Bet you could sell it on here.

I only got the complete underdash part. Someone would need to buy their own compressor, drier, lines, condensor..... This is just the main suitcase that holds the HVAC. Heatercore has some corrosion it looks like so that would need replaced I think. I'll try and get $50 for it.
I think it will just end up on Craigslist.

how difficult to ship would the thing be. Don't need it now, but down the road my 71 will have a/c - maybe vintage air, maybe factory style.

It is rather large. Likely around $25 to ship. It is NOT in show room condition. I think the heater core is shot as the hoses were looped and it looks bad. There is a decent one on eBay for like $500 or something. WAY too much if you ask me, but the seller is not asking me so whatever.

After seeing that price I though I might try the eBay route for a week and see what it might bring.

The glove box panel on it needs a hinge as the plastic hinge part is broken. You would need to have new AC lines made or buy some if they are available.

It has the harness that plugs into the stock control unit.

If you are seriously interested in it, I can take photos.

1968/72 F100/350 factory installed integral A/C.

There are two glove boxes, the expansion valve mounts behind the dash glove box, so it has a shorter liner. The other glove box is located in the bezel.

Just found out today that one of my key contract jobs is no longer. As such, my expenses for the project truck must be scaled back. Good luck on Ebay though.

On a 67, you will have to opt for an add-on under dash unit or vintage air. The 68-69 and 70-72 will not work on your 67.

Yeah I figured that out pretty quick. I could make it work..... like doing my own wiring to make the computer 4.6 work with the stock harness. I just don't care enough about the issue to put in the modding work.

It would take ALOT of work because the controls for the heat and A/C are different on a 68 and up......more than it would be worth. Thats why pre 68 models have the after market under dash add on units that have A/C.....none of those came with a factory unit like the ones found on the 68"s and up.
