sad day for my baby. tranny.....
Bought a new camper Saturday to take to tx for the job. My truck didn't like towing the load. The tranny temp was just a little over 200 going 55 on i10. The front seal started pouring fluid out and I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in on the bridge in Baton Rouge. I made it to the top after stopping about 10 times because of the traffic. I coasted down just to keep off the throttle and run the temp up more. I stopped at the first exit and dumped 3 quarts in. I drove again until I hit 220. Pulled off and waited. Cooled down and tried again. 3 stops to the next exit after sending my dad ahead to get 4 more quarts. Sitting here waiting on my cousin to come get the camper and hope I can limp the truck to my mom's until I can fix it.

I did add a aftermarket tranny cooler Saturday. Between the south Louisiana heat and the camper that stop and go up the bridge in Baton Rouge it was just a bad combination. Made a phone call and my cousin came with a cc f350 dw 7.3 of course. He's towing the camper and I put more fluid in and I'm running 65 and the tranny temp is at 165 now. The truck has 286667 and counting. I don't know if the tranny is original or not. I've had her about 2.5 years.
She's cruising on. So we are headed to nederland now

After my cousin showed up with the drw and hooked to the camper. I added 3 more quarts of that cheap crap from the gas station and drove on to nederland tx with no problems. Tranny temp stayed at 165 and no more leak

Mine went out on me about 3yrs ago at 180K. And it went out in style....
One of the property security guards, (rent a cop. Likes to wear his badge on his belt and strut around), walked over to me when I was parking in the underground garage. He started telling me how people where whining cause of the diesel smell yadda yadda yadda.
I had just said my peace and he started in on how bad for the environment diesels are and the smoke and all...I asked what smoke....none seen...Then he started in on all the fluids they leak...I said What leak? Nothing there...
That afternoon when I left...the tranny gave out...She spewed tranny fluid all over the garage floor as I pulled away.... Got it just far enough from work so I could pull into a parking lot to have it towed to the tranny shop.
They sent out an email complaining about the fluid on the garage floor and the cost to clean it up...but they never knew it was me. I just drove my other vehicle and told em the wife was using the truck. Got it fixed and drove it again...No leak! Geeee wonder how that happened.
OK Sorry...Had to tell...
