My preference is a 1953 because that was my first vehicle after I got my license in 63. Also made my first pass at the drag strip in the 53....
Put a LOT of miles on that truck...way over 300,000 before I sold it and the next owner took it way over 500,000 total miles.....
Only overhauled the engine once.

NOW the service engine light is on....ides rough and HAS NO POWER...
Used my Hypertech to read the codes(Tune up is stock..never changed.) and it reports DTC P1111....
Thought this was an all clear no problem code....NOT TRUE!

No idea where to look when this kind of situation happens.....

Frustrating....

Did you give your IDM the shake test like I suggested?

I found the problem.

I disconnected the engine harness under the fuse box and pulled all plugs including injectors, sensors etc,

Did about 900 continuity tests on ALL of the wiring. Found that one of the injector wires was shorted to one of the wires that goes to the exhaust/turbo control.

Uncovered all the injector wiring and found that a lot of the wires had insulation that looked like GOO. Redid all of the injector wiring and added extra insulation as well as new shielding and wrapped with good electrical tape.

Put it back together and it now runs perfectly. Hooked to the 48' trailer and it pulls it just like it used to.

Hope it is fixed now so I can finish the replacement build.

Took about 60 hours of diagnosing to finally find the problem. Look under P1111+not ok for more info.

Ford says there are NO engine harnesses in North America and if there were one would cost $795 plus shipping and tax.....
When the cummins powered replacement is done that will be the end of powerstrokes for me. Loved this truck but hate the fact that the wiring will not last as long as the engine.

Good deal man. I'm glad you'reup and running again. And yeah, its aggrevating that Ford has discontinued so many of the parts for these trucks...
