service engine soon light
My Service Engine soon light came on yesterday...FORD 2010 F-250 manual 6.4l engine...it's still running fine, fuel mileage is good, no crazy sounds and I think the exhaust cleaning was done about two or three weeks ago but I am waiting for it to come on again to see if this clears the light. I've checked fluid levels on everything and was considering cleaning the air filter. I just had all of my filters checked during my last oil change too. I also tried the reset button inside the passenger door sill. Short of taking it in for a diagnostic, what else can I do?

Hi Binnyinga,
I split your post off onto its own thread in the 6.4L Powerstroke forum. This is the best place to get help with your issue.
Don't waste time looking for things that are amiss, you need to get the truck scanned to find out what the PCM sees wrong. Most auto parts stores will scan your PCM for free, and that would be the first step I'd recommend.

Ok, so, I took the truck to O'Reillys Auto Parts and they ran a diagnostic on it and the code (they didn't tell me the exact code) was for "Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1". I checked the three sensors on the Exhaust and they are all connected so I will be looking online for one. I still will do everything I can to avoid going to the AUTOMAX Ford dealer here in Killeen...RIP OFF KINGS.
It doesn't give a reason for possible causes but did give fixes as: Replace exhaust gas temp sensor w/P2081; bypassed connector C110 w/P2081; repaired engine wire harness w/P0544, P0545, P2081; repaired exhaust temp sensor (EGT) Wiring w/P2081.
I will also say that while I was checking the sensors I noticed some rubbing on one of the wire sensors on the frame and I am going to put a zip tie on it once I am finished with this fix.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
