Cooling System

I have a 2008, 6.4, F350, just recently had the radiator hoses replaced and t-stats at a dealership. I asked the rep if distilled water was used, his answer "No, we do not use it, we have not had any problems. " My question is will I ? Thank you in advance for your replys.

They might have used the pre-mix stuff. Ask again.

Yes you will have problems ford only let's us use distilled water ro water or ultra low chlorine tap water on superduty cooling systems if tap water was used what will eventually happen all that hard minerals will eventually plug the oil cooler wich will set wrench light and de rate power This is a tsb that has information on water usage

ISSUE:

Use of tap water in some geographic areas or municipalities can lead to unacceptable scaling and/or corrosion protection of the cooling system, as well as decreased coolant pump life.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Prior to using available tap water for the final flush of a cooling system, verify the water quality is acceptable using water quality test strips Rotunda part number 328-00007.

Collect about 8 oz. (237 mL) of tap water in a clean cup. Water sample temperature must be between 50 °F (10 °C) and 130 °F (54 °C).Remove test strip from the foil sealed packet. Do not touch the pads at the end of the strip.Dip the strip in the water sample for five (5) seconds with a gentle back and forth motion. Remove the strip and shake briskly to remove excess liquid.Twenty five (25) seconds after dipping the strip, compare the pads with the color chart included in the test kit in the following order. Record results.Hardness level (end pad)pH level (middle pad)Chloride level

All three readings must be completed no later than thirty five (35) seconds after dipping the strip.

If tap water does not meet the pass criteria for hardness, pH and Chloride, one of the following alternatives should be used for the final flush of the cooling systemistilled water. Distilled water is required for diluting coolant concentrate.Deionized water.Purified water from a reverse osmosis water filter system
