I have had 84 (carbed), 87, 89, and a 90 and all had the inertia behind the glove box.

So I assume this 88 has one, right?
Tricky, open thine peepers, scroll down and take a look-see at E1AZ-9341-B

B = Bronco II / R = Ranger.

Thanks Dave I found it under the carpet. No joy when jumped it. What next guys?
I am at a loss at this point. Again can I jump the relay and force the pumps to know
if they work? If so what posts? Help. Like I said I have scrapped Rangers
because I couldn't figure this out. So lets get this one to run please. Trans is polly gone from
towing it but it needs to run for a bit to determine that, right?

I have got to make a run to the store today. This is the "Out House" out of everything.
That's an all day trip from here. I will be
going by the place I have the parts Rangers parked. I will grab a relay or two.
I wont be able to grab any pumps yet. Will need my helper for that. What else can or should
I grab while I am by there guys?

Can anyone tell me if I can jump the pump relay and force power to the pumps?
Or how would I do that if it can be done Please?

Jumper contacts 30 & 87, if the fuel pump relay is the same as the pictorial one you posted on page-2 & you want to temporarily by pass the fuel pump relay for a test. Don't drive with it wired that way, because if you have an accident the fuel pump/s won't cut off if you don't have an inertia switch in the circuit & that'll cause them to continue to run & feed a fire!!!

Thanks pawpaw I will give that a try. And yes these Ranger roll very easy
as I rolled one and the GF rolled another I know this to be true. It's funny
though that I didn't have to reset the inertia switch on either. Just pulled
a couple of plugs to let the oil out of the cylinder and the fired right up.

Oh and my son rolled the one I rolled on it's first drive after spending all
winter beating out the dents, painting it and replacing the front and back glass.
I'll see if I can post a pic of that one. Sad day but he only sprained his back.

Pull the connector off of the inertia switch & jump 12 volts to the pink/black stripe wire. If the pumps run look toward the pump relay for the problem.

If the pumps don't run theres a break in the wire between the inertia switch & the pumps.

Thanks XLT. I will try that when the weather lets up a bit here. These are the kind
of back yard techniques that I can use.

Well guys I am about to scrap this pig. The engine spins over fair as the
battery is a little weak. But even with the booster charger on it all I get is
7 volts at the inertia and pressure pump. Yes I have power to the pump on
the frame but it don't spin and is only about 7 volts. Is this a low volt
system? I should have 12V there right? I have not checked the volts at
the relay as yet. But I did switch the relays around with no joy.

I will check the volts at the battery and if it is also 7 than I will try
another batt. But I wouldn't think it would spin like it does with only 7
volts.

Any Ideas or more input guys? What do ya think of the volts I am getting?

Yeah you should have 12 volts at the pumps.

Yank the pump relay & leave the key off. One of the relay contacts will have voltage from one of the fuse links. Should be 12 volts.

If you only have 7 volts check at the starter relay. The 3 or 4 small fuse link wires connect to the starter relay.

Okay thanks. Deer season just opened here so the boys are rolling me out at 4 AM. I will check that out as soon as They get a deer and have to dress
it out. That should slow them down some.

Find the EECIV test plug. Ground the FP test port bottom row right looking at the plug face. Turn the switch on. Pump circuit is now energized. Start tracing the circuits until you find the fault. If it runs doing this then that usually means the ECM FP driver is bad. And yes get the battery voltage above 10 volts.

Could I have a little information on where this plug is and how many wires
are on it please? Maybe a pic or diagram? Sounds like just what I need to
do for sure. Thanks.

Exact location usually near fender just off the fuse / relay box
The A plug is what you are looking for

I haven't had a chance to get back on this pile as yet. But I heard
a bit of info from a Ranger Guru yesterday and thought I would
run it by all ya all.

He has two Rangers not getting any power to the pumps. He said
the harness that runs down the passinger side and into the
computer makes like a 90* bend where it goes into the fire wall.
Said that on his two and others that this can and will fill with water
and freeze. This of course than will cause the wires to break. Or even
short out. He demonstrated by reaching in and down and wiggling the
harness. We than heard the fuel pumps start and run. But as soon as
he took his hand away they stopped.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is the wire loom available?
He checked with Painless with no luck. Is the only option to pull that
harness from another Ranger?
I am open for any and all ideas here.

Thanks Guys.
