diy windshield repair?

We just are back from a week in ely mn On the way home, 2 rocks
chipped my windshield, where i can see them Has anybody used the kits from the auto parts store with any good results?

Didn't know they had them, I know glass shops do it.

Just pay someone to do it. Its like 50 bucks where am at. And with lifetime guarantee. Cant get any better than that.

The pro's use a vacuum gun on it to make sure moisture etc is pulled out and the epoxy gets sucked in. No DIY kit can match the quality.

Check with your insurance company. Many companies will pay places like Safelite to repair the windshield at no cost to you. Some states like Florida will even replace a windshield at no cost to the owner.

Honestly it's not worth the hassle to do it yourself. Just go have it done for a few bucks more

It is more of a pressure inject in than vacuum pressure stuff out.

If the crush zone is large, or in the line of site I would just look at replacing the whole thing. The cracks don't go away, they just get filled with a clear resin, and cured to hold things together.

I've got insider info.

They are on the passenger side, 1/2 spider cracks. I'm leaning toward bringing it in
to have it done by the pro.
