1994.5 - 1997 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel  

Diff cover off for oil change. Any adjustments I can/should make?

Diff cover off for oil change. Any adjustments I can/should make?

Curious if I need to do anything. I noticed that my axles have about 1/4" of backlash (maybe 5 degrees) before the gears in the diff catch. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I'll take a wild a** guess, that's normal. This will give you a bump anyway.

I don't think there is anything you can do to adjust it unless you're willing to tear the diff apart and start installing shims, etc. I'd just re-seal it, fill 'er up and go.

First, I'd make sure you are properly checking backlash (google/watch youtube videos). A .250" of backlash is way too much. The spec is .006" to .010".
