95 bronco 4.9 300 l6 swap
Not really asking for help. I've searched and searched some more and came up with little to no information. So I figured I post some in case someone else out there maybe wanting to do the same swap and needs help.
My swap is not complete yet but I'm making some good progress. Here what I started with, a 1995 bronco with a 351w / e4od when I'm done it will have a 4.9 / m5od so I'm not just swapping an v8 for a l6 I'm also swapping in a manual in the place of an automatic.
First off I bought a whole donor truck, a 95 f150 I paid $450 for it. Everything is a direct swap well almost I've found some differences in wiring harnesses aka look the same but wired differently.
What I've done so far I've completely removed the dash and wiring from the bronco cab it almost came out in one big peace, the steering column and peddle assembly. And swapped in everything from the f150s dash

The dash wiring harness is actually easy to get out. I swapped the harness so I could have a functional clutch start switch. And I wanted to keep everything looking as factory as possible. After I got the new dash in and all the wires plugged in I took both steering columns and set them on the tailgate of my truck and looked them over the auto column had tilt wheel the standard wasn't. As I looked at them I noticed they were exactly the same except for the shifter so I got an idea I unbolted the shifter. Then took the button you have to push the turn the key all the way off, off the standard column and put it on the auto column. Then I took the top half of the standard column cover and the bottom half of the auto column put them on the former auto column with tilt wheel and bolted it back in the bronco. Now theres no shifter and no empty holes it looks factory and I kept the tilt wheel.
With changing from a bronco harness to the f150 harness I lost power windows, locks, my back window which didn't work anyway and the dome light in the topper. But I'll worry about those later.
At this point I have no shifters yet. The bronco still has the 351 in it I wanted to test everything so I plugged the fuel pump/taillight harness and engine compartment harness into the dash harness and crossed my fingers... well everything except the taillights and fuel pump world. It won't try to start till you hold the clutch peddle down like it should.
When I looked at the fuel pump harness connector on both the truck and bronco I noticed they are pinned differently. So I took the harness out of the truck and plan on swapping it in in the morning

I felt a sense of shame after seeing your upper intake. So after cleaning the inside of mine I took some time to clean up the outside and other than a hickey on the top it had an okay looking grey coating under the grime. Note - acetone dissolves this coating (see #4 runner). Anyway, I cleaned it and hit it with a couple of coats of VHT clear gloss engine paint. Not quite as spiffy but at least I don't have to hang my head in shame any longer.
