1999 F-350 7.3 first time trouble

Hey All!
It is my first time posting on a board like this. I have a problem with my '99 F-350 S.D. 4x4 Crew Dually, 180,000 miles....trouble free to this point, from the 140,000 miles when I got it 5 years ago. I rarely drive it except to tow my boat or trailer, and it has never missed a lick....
We were driving to Utah from California last week pulling our VERY lightweight 16' trailer. I pulled off the 15 in Mesquite, AZ. to make a call to my job and when I stopped at the bottom of the offramp, it died. I restarted it, and it died again. I restarted and revved it up to 3500 or so, a few times and then it kept running, so I pulled across the street and parked at the side of the onramp.
Looked everything over and found nothing notable at all. We got going and made it up the hill to St. George, Utah and the same thing happened when I pulled off to get fuel. Drove into the Ford dealer and they were going home, called a couple of independents, and they couldn't see me till tomorrow....finally, it threw up the Service Engine light. One guy said to check all of the wiring on the injector solenoid below the turbo, (as well as the oil level, which was about 1/4" over full on the stick) I checked it and found the nut on the main power post to be a little loose, got 3/4-1 turn on it. Restarted, no engine light and would idle, so we continued on up to Zion. Spent a week there, drove the truck trailer-less for about 20 miles and no problem.
On the way home, just outside of Vegas, when I stopped for slow traffic, it started doing the same thing, no idle, but would rev ok. The Service engine light came on and it began idling fine. As soon as the light went off, no idle. I limped it through the slow traffic for a couple of hours, Once I hit 3000 feet, it started running perfectly. It ran perfect all the way home. I put my code scanner on it and it said "NO CODES".
So, Is this classic UVCH behavior? It didn't make the clacking noise like the one on the video I watched, it simply wouldn't idle. Where should I go from here? Thanks for your input!!

What do you mean by "No Idle"

What scanner are you using? Only an advanced scanner can pull codes from a 99 Superduty, a standard code reader wont always work if its a Ford specific code. These are not OBDII compliant.

I doubt its a UVHC problem, because thats an all out issue, not just at idle.
Check fuel pressure at the bowl. Also check ICP either by the OBDII port or at the head. You may need to clean/rebuild your IPR.

Also, classically, look into the CPS issues. What CPS are you using? Was it raining (wipers on)? Might as well just replace it, OEM only. About $20.

The wipers were not on. And by "no idle" , I mean that it stumbled for a few seconds and died. Thanks for your reply!
