2006 Ford Expedition HELP Please

Just spent $800 on having my spark plugs done at the dealer they also changed the oil as well on the way home the truck rode rough felt like it was running real rough when we would stop almost like it was going to stall then it pulled up the P022 over retarded on the timing VCT valve. I took it back to the dealer and they said they wanted to replace the VCT Solenoids and tensioners and the timing system ($4,000) and that the throttle body had gone out as well my question to them was how does this happen all of a sudden after they had it.
I don't get it any help here would be appreciated
thanks

You need a second opinion! No issues before they worked on it? What is the complete story .

No issues before It was just time to change the spark plugs
they broke 6 of the 8 plugs while replacing them.

is there any chance they put the wrong oil in the truck when they changed it?

the VCT and tensioning system runs off of oil pressure, the wrong oil could cause a problem with the phasers.

some say that the mod motors aren't particularly sensitive to oil, including using the wrong weight of oil, but i've found that mine is quieter with one brand vs another of the same weight.

i'd start with a $20 oil change and a second opinion before i jumped into a $4,000 repair.

there is no possible way that the spark plug change could have caused probelms with the VCT system. breaking off 6 plugs is not particularly disturbing either, other than being expensive.

throttle body .... i don't know that much about them, other than there is a code for "throttle body frozen over with ice" which is what happened to mine last winter.

I'd look into damaged COP boots first. They're only $3 a piece and could've been damaged during the spark plug change.

How does it run when cold? There is no way changing the plugs can cause VCT problems. If it runs good cold then acts up when its warmed up then installing the updated VCT solenoids in my signature might fix it. The dealer would have put in the right oil and motorcraft filter. If it runs bad all the time then one of the guides prob broke and the chain could have jumped a tooth however $4000 is way too much to replace all of the timing parts.

Not sure how a throttle body "goes out"
They'll be saying you have a broken knuter valve next!

the throttle body can "go out" in much the same way that an IAC might "go out".

that is to say, if the electric motor no longer works, or if the throttle blade were to get carboned up or frozen such that the electric motor cannot move it, or causes it to burn out .... then one could say it has "gone out"

also worth noting, is that the electronic throttle body made the IAC valve obsolete, and as such, is not used.
