You currently have an auto with a married 205 transfer case ? and what you are looking at is a NP435 married to a 205 transfer case ?

The rear drive shaft will be different for starters .. It should be longer than what you have currently .. The transfer case mount is different on the 205 vs the 203 .. I'm not sure about the crossmember ..

Off the top of my head you'll also need:

Standard trans steering column (if you care)
Bell housing
Flywheel
Clutch assembly
Z-bar & linkage
Shifter
Floor plate (or you can cut the hole)
Driveshafts

I can probably help you out with most of that stuff if you decide to do it.

There's 2 always to do this. Piece together all of it or order the kit from L&L products and piece together some of it. You need to know if your 460 is internal or external balance. Sounds internal and if so you could use a 390 flywheel and 302 pilot bearing. I'm doing a similar swap with a T-18 on a 79 2wd. That. Switch in balance was a running change for 78 so you have to check serial number. However a 390 flywheel wont fit in the bell with the clutch unless you make 1/2" spacer. Or order the kit like me from L&L. This is not a 1 weekend project. You also need to find the right pedal assembly (power brake / speed control) etc. Ford made 22 brake pedals and 7 clutch pedals for 73-79.

Uh huh...
1973/79 F100/350:

There were TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINETEEN different master cylinders, SEVENTEEN different power brake boosters, SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not.

Whatever booster you use must match the pedals.

Which serial number might this be? None.

The running change for 460's internal vs external balance occurred mid-model year 1979 .. not in 1978.

This only affects F150/350's and Econolines, since 1978 was the last year that 460's were available in cars, 1976 in F100's.

Running change means there were no before or from certain serial numbers or production dates.

460 ~ 1979 internal balance block casting number: D1VE-6015-AB2 / 1979 external balance block casting number: D9TE-6015-AB

So i did a little more research on the 203 and 205 because the info on the website i got it off of started to look like it might be wrong. from other pics from other sites so i crawled under the truck again and found the tag. it says it's a 205 so will i have to change my drive shafts since they will be the same transfer case.

You'll still have to change them because the auto trans is longer than the 4-speed.
