Changing gas tank setups got a few ??s

I'm starting to work on my 79 f150 4x4 long bed to short bed conversion and I'm at the part where I need help on gas tanks. The truck has dual tanks on it now. The rear tank has a hole in it so I've only been using the front tank. The tanks I have are evap tanks and I want to do away with that setup just to simplify everything. From what I have read all you really need is a vented gas cap to use a non evap tank. Is this correct?

Also sense I will only be able to use a rear tank because I'm going with a flareside bed. Can I just run 1 fuel line to the new rear tank? Stock it has both tank joined with a valve looking setup that has a wire going to it. Just remove all that jazz and run a line from the stock pump to the rear tank? Like I said I'm just looking to go the simplest path.

Sounds like you got her figured out. That valve with the wire on it is the tank selector valve. Just remove it and run the hose from the steel line on the frame to the rear tank. Might want to cover the end of the selector valve wire and zip tie it up somewhere safe. Good luck.

The only other thing you should be aware of is the vent line for the tank, the 5/8" hose that's next to the filler tube, is 180° opposite location between the evap and non-evap tanks. You'll need to get a longer vent hose and loop it around the filler neck.
And yes, switch to a vented filler cap and you can run a single line from the tank to the fuel pump.

Doesn't the flareside use a specific filler neck other then a reg. bed? I will have to get a new one of them as well anyways because my flareside bed didn't have one when I bought it. I guess just get a non evap filler neck and tank then right?

Yes, the filler necks are specific to flaresides.
Getting the correct one is the right way to do it .
