Changing gas tank setups got a few ??s
I'm starting to work on my 79 f150 4x4 long bed to short bed conversion and I'm at the part where I need help on gas tanks. The truck has dual tanks on it now. The rear tank has a hole in it so I've only been using the front tank. The tanks I have are evap tanks and I want to do away with that setup just to simplify everything. From what I have read all you really need is a vented gas cap to use a non evap tank. Is this correct?
Also sense I will only be able to use a rear tank because I'm going with a flareside bed. Can I just run 1 fuel line to the new rear tank? Stock it has both tank joined with a valve looking setup that has a wire going to it. Just remove all that jazz and run a line from the stock pump to the rear tank? Like I said I'm just looking to go the simplest path.

The only other thing you should be aware of is the vent line for the tank, the 5/8" hose that's next to the filler tube, is 180° opposite location between the evap and non-evap tanks. You'll need to get a longer vent hose and loop it around the filler neck.
And yes, switch to a vented filler cap and you can run a single line from the tank to the fuel pump.

Getting the correct one is the right way to do it .
