Freshest Info on a P0088 code?

Hello- FNG to the group. Have a 2008 F250 that gets this code, only when hot outside, regardless of load.

Did a lot of searching on the subject here- Took notes on the 11B25 flash and IDS update 79.05- latest information was from last fall.

Just wanted to check to see if there was any new information or new codes or recent updates etc.

Also would appreciate any info/opinions of Geico MBI- Looking into that as well and praying the flash holds for while!

Thanks in advance!
Chris

To the best of my knowledge the flash is the fix. Then if it still throws the code and you go into limp mode then replacement of the HPFP is the fix. I had it done to my 6.4 last summer when I threw the code in Texas.

I had the flash already.

The geico MBI is what I had at the time and they paid for the repair. I was an easy process. I'd recommend then to anyone.

But you can only get the MBI on new vehicles or ones with less than 12K miles I believe. Call them and speak with them.

The MBI does carry a $250 deductible.

My truckhas 105,000 miles and the cruise control has intermittently quit working on me a few times the last couple weeks. I'd stop shut truck off restart and would be all good. Kinda strange I thought. Well 2 days ago while pulling out of a parking lot with my 20ft alum trailer and 1200 lb payload which is nothing to the truck it through the p0088 code?? I run the spartan tuner on the 210 tune all the time. I just used the tuner cleared codes and it hasn't come back. It's kinda bugging me now though this code seems related to a bad hpfp. If bad hpfp what am i looking at price wise? I was already nervous about the hpfp. Almost has me ready to jump to the 6.7

So to get the latest update do I just take it in to the dealer? Will having my tuner on be an issue with flashing the truck?

All the update is going to do, is to widen the parameters deemed acceptable by the PCM to prevent setting of P0088. If that code persists even after the reflash, you likely have a sticking volume control valve, which is not serviced separately from the HPFP.

Ok so to make sure I understand i would need to reprogram my truck to stock tune to get it re-flashed? If so just to stock tune then re-flash then back to my tune i run? Without the tuner truck will go into limp mode without dpf correct? I used my truck today to move my grandparent 27ft camper and got the p0088 code again but no engine light? Reason for checking for code is while accelerating truck was kinda stumbling sputtering. Once torque converter locked up it seemed fine? I'm gonna change fuel filters just for peace of mind although they only have about 5000 miles on them. Any thoughts or info is greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you tell the tech that you don't have the DPF and re-program in the parking lot then you should be ok without putting on the dpf.

I think it's just in limp mode, that's why the hesitation. If you're running the Spartan the re-flash won't do you any good if you plan on continuing to run the Spartan tune after the Ford bandaid flash. That's because the guys at Spartan don't include that bandaid fix from Ford in their tune, because to them the pump is on it's way out. Search their forum and you will find a few discussions on this. What you don't want to do is let the pump start grinding itself up and throwing metal in the fuel system, as that will be a super costly fix. Unfortunately there's not really any way of knowing the pump is doing that until it's too late and already shot metal into the system.

Thank you. That's basically what i was thinking. Also the conclusion i came to today while emailing mike at spartan and talking to tech working on my truck. Also the fact i have a injector acting up. I started another thread on my truck earlier in week it's p0088 continued.
