Its not that I have to do it all that often thankfully... But man if they would have just added another inch on the bolt... We wouldn't have to struggle so much. (No jokes about adding an inch please)

Anybody do something to make it easier.

Do you have oversized tires?

I've got no issues putting my spare back in the Ex.

No I have a stock wheel tire there... It's not the fit... It's getting the stud to stay in the center of the wheel, while putting up the plate and putting the huge wing nut onto the bolt without it falling thought the back.

As I recall, you should be able to put the wing nut on the bold, then hook the bolt to its anchor.

Tried that too... Even with it just on one turn.. The hook won't go on.

I had the same issue one time. Seems I reached in behind to hold the bolt with a finger or 2 and then started the nut. Took me a few minutes to do but got it done. Dont plan to have to do it again as I too have a plug kit.

I just have the bolt taped with electrical tape so it always stays put and never comes off.

I was able to preassemble the hook/bolt/plate and get it put together. Maybe turn the wheel around?

You are not alone....
When i bought the cover i was at a loss for a couple of days. Then i figured it out.
You can also stuff a blanket, tools, etc. in the 'rim' once the tire and cover are installed.
