First I'll start out by saying that my truck is a 97 with approx 142k miles. It recently developed a pretty bad oil leak that turned out to be the passenger side oil rail end plug(o-ring). My mechanic replaced the o-ring and while he was at it I asked him to do an oil/filter change and a fuel filter replacement. I got the truck back today and now I'm dealing with hard starting. The truck always started on the first crank. Now it seems like I have to crank it for several seconds before it starts. Does the fuel system have air in it? or did the mechanic get air in the high pressure side of my oil system when he replaced the o-ring? I've seen several posts on this similar issue, but I'd like to pinpont what he could've done to cause this condition. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

Replacing that plug would indeed cause air in the HPO system. This is normal and it takes some time for all the air to purge. Keep driving it and and in about 150 miles or so it should be back to normal.
