1985 e350 4x4 no spark..

I have a 1985 ford e350 4x4 and the engine is a 400 truck is pretty much custom built and the truck sat a long time like sense 2003...

But it was started up every once awhile over the years, So last year i tried starting it and it wanted to start but it didn't so i kept puting gas in the carb and was trying to than pretty much it just lost spark so i pretty much gave up at the time cause money was the problem...

So this week i tried getting it going after i finally got my 1979 bronco which also sat with it and the duraspark Ignition module was the problem why the bronco wasn't starting, So i figure i change the module on the van to cause it was cracked on the clear stuff on back and just was in bad shape.

So i had 2 modules which i got out of the junk yard from 70s and low 80s ford pickups which both work because the bronco runs on both of them, And the van still doesn't get spark...

So i tested the Ignition coil like i did the bronco when i was getting no spark from the wires which i pulled the middle wire off the distributor and had my dad hold the wire on metal while i crank it and there was no sparks at all. when we did it with the bronco it had alot of sparks. And Yes i know its not good testing it this way.. But i don't have a ohm or a spark tester at hand right now.

So does that mean the Ignition coil is bad? it also has this greasy oilyish stuff coming out from were the plug wire going to the distributor. The broncos is dry.

Pretty much it has to be either the coil or the pickup coil in the diss. But im hopeing its just the Ignition coil sense its easier to replace.

Thanks

Figure i bump my thread. I still haven't got this solved. There's no spark coming from the coil going to the distributor ...

Can i test the coil with my volt meter to see if its getting power?

The coil should show voltage in, if nothing comes out replace it.
I think I only paid $20 for the coil in my E350 from autozone , they do wear out.

A test light should show power at the coil with the key on, and one post of the coil should pulse power when cranking the engine. If no pulse, it's a wiring or pickup issue. If pulsing with no spark, it's a coil. The oily stuff at the dist. cap is probably electrical grease.
