Hi guys. I need your expertise. I've been looking to buy a crew cab or super cab for a while now, but haven't found the right truck. I came across this 76 super cab and wanted to know what you all think I should offer, or if I should even make an offer.

Details:
1976 F100
351
Auto 2wd
Looks like it hit something on the passenger side as the hood is raised and the cab comes closer to the bed.

Let me know what you all think!

More info first......do YOU own a welder?

Repairing wheel arches is more or less pedestrian work....fixing roof rail rot is challenging.

In my area, figure $750 to $1200.

Thanks for the quick response. I own a welder, but have never done any sort of body panel repairs. I am, however, always willing to learn. The drip rail area definitely worried me a bit because I figured if that much rust was visible to the naked eye the entire roof may need replacing. My immediate thought after looking at the truck was to offer $700 considering the amount of work it needs. Worst that could happen is a "no" from the seller.

So long as you're realistic with tools time, and motivation then have at it. You patient (or victim!) awaits you.

As always, build threads keeps up the momentum. We'll be here if ya get stuck.

Nice truck a SC will be cheaper than a CC anyday.

Don't you hate it when a mega-sized image gets posted and you end up having to scroll side to side to see the complete posts on that page? Automatic image resizing software has been added to the site! You can access this feature through your UserCP > Edit Options> Thread Display Options> The Image Resizer. If you leave the fields blank, all images larger than 400px in width or 600px in height will be resized down to approximately 400px in width or 600px in height. If you enter a 0 into both fields, then the feature is disabled and you won't see any resizing. You can also set a custom size if you want to. Just be sure to scroll down and click "Save Changes" if you do anything other than leave the fields blank.

It doesn't look too bad, but I would be a bit worried about a bent or laddered frame seeing how little body damage the collision did and the fact the cab and bed don't line up the same on each side.

I'd get underneath and take a hard look at whatever damage there is before I pulled the trigger on it.

I'm not one to pass on a cheap truck that is savable, but that one would be tough to buy. It would be one thing if it was rusty and ran, but that engine will need attention too. I gave $600 for a running 4x4 Scab and drove it the hour home. That being said, don't be afraid to save it. There are plenty of parts around and plenty of knowledge, as long as you have the patience. My Scab project is going on 3 years now :P

TRY to get it for scrap price, I'd offer $500 and see where it goes. If it gets close to $1000,, I'd walk away. The roof rail rust is a killer.

***** You can always find another cab in better shape to swap onto it. I finally settled on my 3rd cab before moving on. First was rotted away, second needed floors and cab corners, third needed cleaned up and painted.

The drip rails are a deal breaker for me

The reason hasn't sold I would guess is it's in Az. with no A/C .. aftermarket A/C could be added later It might have a Dana 60 front being it's a camper special 1978 FORD F250 PICK UP-SUPER CAB-CAMPER SPECIAL!!!

I agree, walk away. It has a depressing stance to it, has rust in bad spots, questionable front-end damage, and you obviously can't drive it or hear it run.

I have to agree with passing on this truck. It has too many bad points, and there are much better examples out there. I really like that one that Red posted for you...you will be so much further ahead buying a clean truck than a rusty dog like that '76.
