LMC Quality is poor

I bought these emblems new for my truck, it spends most of its time in the Garage, and never even saw winter. These things are peeling apart, look like junk! I only had them on one year.

Anywhere you see a copper color they are peeling apart.

Yup.. the pot metal ingredients are reacting with each other. That's an indication of poor metallurgy.

Just sickening after paying that kind of money. I am going to look into finding some NOS ones for when it goes under the knife this winter.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering because I just bought a new glove compartment insert since mine was not even there. When I got it none of the scree holes even lined up correctly so I had to make my own. Wasn't sure if it was just that one product or if all of there stuff is the poorly constructed. It sucks because they have basically anything I'd need but there high price on a lot of stuff and it seems quality is just not there. Where do you guys typically go for NOS? I need quite a bit of stuff, is there any good websites anybody would recommend?

I'm not sure where to find NOS yet, just looking. Those 2 emblems cost me $100 to get them here to Canada, not impressed. Haven't even seen 6 months outside

Contact LMC and let them know of the issue...let's see if they stand behind their products. This isn't good PR for them and you're givimg them a chance to square things up.

LMC is "usually" reasonable about returning parts, however the time frame may be an issue. If they replace them, you will get the same thing. Try for a refund. Whenever available, I will choose Dennis Carpenter parts over Scott Drake(which is probably what you received). Quality parts are hard to find.

Scott Drake is Bob Drake's son. Bob began reproducing quality parts long before Carpenter did.

Most of the repro parts are made in China, but there are different suppliers. LMC's repro parts are usually the worst of the worst.

To locate NOS parts requires the Ford part numbers. There are 100's of obsolete parts vendors and Ford dealers that have NOS

Carpenter has "a deal" with FoMoCo, can buy parts direct that they are planning to obsolete.

D7TZ-16720-N .. 1977/79 F250 Ranger Emblem / Obsolete

B & L FORD in Ashland PA has 1 = 570-875-4417.

NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has 1 = 972-037-2201.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 1 = 800-543-4959.

WHITE COUNTY FORD-LINCOLN in Carmi IL has 1 = 618-382-4611.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 985 = 800-476-9653.

Most of what I used on my Crew Cab rebuild I got from Dennis Carpenter. I have been pleased with all but one piece. The in-cab fuel tank neck grommet is apparently very poor quality rubber. It's only been a year and it's already cracking around the edges. Even though the original was as hard as a rock, it didn't have any cracks in it.
