smoking multiple alternators

Hi folks, new to the site, first post. I've got an 04 6.0L, manual trans . My friend brought it to me after smoking three alternators. I'm having troubling finding wiring diagrams to see what circuits putting too much load on the alternator. If I disconnect the lead from the passenger battery that feeds the glow plugs and other unknowns it does not smoke the alternator. That's how he got it to me. I did check all cables and grounds. Brand new batteries. Thank you in advance for your help.

You will probably need to go to one of Fords web sites and may have to purchase a true copy of the schematic. Most aftermarket manuals are sorely lacking in their schematics.

I have seen members post that they can get free stuff like schematics from Fords Fleet site but I never have.

The Glow plug circuit should throw a DTC

Suggest a Code scan

Check Engine light should be on with GP Error

smoking the alternator.

Along with new batteries , I cleaned all grounds and cables. Will be checking draw to the starter in the morning. Although the starter shouldn't continue to draw after its started. Thank you for the replies .
