cannot fill past half tank. 79 bronco

Ok here is the scenario. I cannot fill the tank past half. It does not really matter if it is empty or at 1/4 it will not let anymore than a squirt in.

Would the likely culprit be the vent tube on the side of the fill neck or at the top of the tank?

Tank is clear, new sending unit and both fill hoses all from JBG. It is a 25 gallon tank.

I would suspect a clogged vent tube

Are you thinking on the side, the one that runs next to the fill hose?

^^ That would be my guess also. And with that 520 c.i. fire breathing behemoth you gonna need all the gas in her you can get. Might even need to buy a trailer to tow around with an extra 100 gallons.

But which one is your guess gator? The one on top or next to fill hose.

I figured on today it gets a whopping 2.5 mpg. But you should see the smile on my face.

The one next to fill hose would be my first suspect. When you bought that Bronco you were figuring more on smiles per gallon than miles per gallon.

True

Well both vents are clear, went to fill the tank last night. It had about a quarter in it. Sadly only took 11 gallons......and it took for ever.

There is a little kink in the big fill hose, I believe this is where my issue is. After the weekend I am going to cut the hose and put a piece of exhaust pipe in there that I can flatten a little to clear the frame and see if that takes care of it.

why is it kinked in the first place? that is what should be looked at and perhaps the hose itself needs replaced. I wouldn't run a exhaust pipe

This is the replacement fill hose from JBG, for some reason is ended up with a slight kink in it.

Now O can't even mess with it for a while, the tank is full from going up to play on the dunes but the trans burned up 30 minutes into the fun.
