Quick Release Cap Bolts?

Does anyone know if such a thing exist?

Love having the cap off of the Bronco, but unbolting it is a pain, especially on a hot day. Does anyone make any thing like a quick release hold down, to replace the ~15 bolts that hold the cap to the body?

I have heard of guys not using all 15 bolts to keep the top on. unsure if this is an option for you or not and I wouldn't necessarily advise this, just saying is all. I imagine if you could also fashion some sort of bar that would run down the length of the top you could probably get away with less bolts and still maintain enough holding strength.

I tried the QR pin method years ago. I tossed the idea in favor of using just four bolts. It takes a little more time but to use QR pins properly you would need to fabricate some sort of tabs on the bedrails and punch holes in the top flange to allow the pins to function as pins. (Relying on the locking ball on a QR pin to hold the top down is truly ill-adivsed and will not hold the top securely enough to keep it from rattling and scuffing the bedrails and seals).

Oh well. Think I'll designate my 11 year old boy to be the one who removes the bolts this year.

If you don't use the plastic side panels, or are willing to cut them, you can use the camper shell brackets. They are a lot easier to remove.

I don't keep the plastic trim anymore, too much of a pain. During the summer I use 3 bolts on the bed rail each side. I keep all original 5 tamper proof bolts in that go in the top and the sides because I have the bit to remove them and I put it in a drill to remove and place them back in. Legit takes 30 seconds to remove all 5 with the bit in the drill.
