think i have work in my future

ok I have a early 2004 ( call it 2003) f250 and I got a scan gauge and am seeing some decent difference between eoc and ect like 20 degrees running around town. not noticing any leaking and no residue at degas bottle. I need to check my temps on a cold motor, to make sure not a sensor issue.
and on to the questions, I have been looking and finding conflicting or confusing info.
I would love to replace the oil cooler with the bpd set up/ money wont let it happen right now.
I read there is a new oem style oil cooler, what is up with this, is it better/ last longer?
what kind of life are people getting with oil cooler replacement/ im seeing 300-50000?
guessing I need to flush and replace thermostat.
dumping my money into a head gasket stud kit, with bpd egr cooler and associated pieces. maybe if I can get 50000 out of this cooler I can then afford the bpd set up.
I also see other cooler replacement systems, any ideas, seeing mixed reviews

any and all input appreciated

Those numbers don't mean squat. For them to be valid you need to have the motor totally heat saturated, 15 to 20 highway miles, and then take your readings doing 60 to 65 on flat ground. Climbing, cresting or decending a hill doesn't work and the throttle must be steady.

k guess I will try and breathe a little easier until I have a chance to really drive it then. this is not my daily driver but I know I have the head bolts still in the motor so I intend to order the egr cooler and the kit I spoke of so I have it standing by

Your truck actually has the more robust EGR cooler. If temp spread is more the 15° during your test you just need an oil cooler. The factory oil cooler was "updated" a couple of years ago and seems to be better. Key for you will be getting the cooling system clean before disassembly. Unless the truck has been unknowingly overheated (it can happen, factory temp gauge is crap) factory head gaskets and bolts may still be fine.

cool no indication of over heating, no leaks no degas issue, oil and coolant are still separate
guess I have to do a better test to find out the difference in eot ect

sounds good. u can do a coolant flush. install a coolant filter. simple things like tat will help a lot.

when u do a coolant flush, flush it a whole bunch of times. also, u might wanna change ur thermostat as well and any hoses tat feel limp. i have most of the processes cataloged on my Facebook album. if u do Facebook, we can connect and u can view my album for a whole bunch of things i've already done to my pickup.

Welcome aboard, first realize UNTIL your oil and coolant gets to "about" 190* the delta doesn't matter.

#1 after sitting overnight , observe oil, coolant, and trans temps. They should be within a couple degrees of each other.. depending on overnight temps and how many hours it sits, they might be slighly off. Watch them for a few days to make sure in the morning they are all reading correctly, if one is bad your delta would NOT be correct.

#2, once oil and coolant temps are 190-ish, get on the flat hiway and drive 65-ish for about 20 minutes watching the delta.

That is the conditions where the delta is determined.. easy for folks to do this in a consistent manner
