I am surprised you don't have inspections/emissions checks in Connecticut.

Nope, nothing after 25 years. "Too expensive to maintain "older" technology sniffer machines"
Around here all they "Test" is OBII". they plug in, see no codes, you pass.
OBD-I and older, it's what is that?
But I don't agree with the "no safety inspections" either... You should see the rust buckets rolling around here.
All you need to register is a bill of sale and a VIN verification (at a garage) and you get a plate.

The only reason I saved my 86 from the crusher was no need for safety or emissions inspection-but don't misinterpret that as, this dude's driving an unsafe smoking hulk, just that it's clean and safe on MY terms.

We need a title in CT if its newer than 1980, or if there's no chain of registration for older vehicles (they want to see where it came from)...you only need the VIN verification if its never been registered in CT before. Even newer vehicles without a title as long as you have a copy of an old reg you just sign a piece of paper fork over the $25 for "lost title" and you're good, lien or not...

My 97 Exploder emissions is, plug into the underdash connector, check for codes, visual for a cat and underhood emissions, check the gas cap and 10 minutes later you're done. The 94 Mustang, however, being pre-96 is all that PLUS a ride on the treadmill...a 30 minute process on a good day.

Def agree, we need mandatory safety inspections in CT...the state does random safety inspections but thats not enough. My brother has a garage in NY state, which has mandatory inspection, curiously they will fail for body rust through but not for frame rot... "Frame rot takes care of itself" is the reasoning. ~Bill

That's the Brand New Vac reservoir, when I was trying to get the emissions stuff working.
Got that, a new head crossover pipe and valve on the pipe. Did no good.
after that, it all had to come off. (would not run with the emissions crap on there).
No use for them now

Looking good. It is amazing what a bit of aluminum instead of cast iron will do. Guess I'll have to document how much weight I take off of Dad's truck.

Looks great and I'm sure the engine appreciates being able to breath again

I'm in the process of doing the same to my 85' 460.
