So I have seen a lot of crew cab long beds. Some have the molding behind the rear wheel well and some do not. Neither one of my crew cabs have had them. What's the deal.
Like Matt said.

But I added mine on the 96 because it looked missing

I've always wondered why that was. Thanks guys. I was thinking about adding it as well. Like Brad says it just looks like it is unfinished.

I can't remember but I think I had it on the old bed of my crew cab. I hated the molding and tore it all off. Actually it was the first thing I did to my crew cab. LOL

I noticed the missing piece on some trucks and agree it looks like it is missing.

That's what I want to do too. Mine looks so bad and aged and I'd much rather eliminate it and make it smoothed out. Then a nice paint job.

The p.o. started to remove the molding on my truck on the passenger side rear door so I thought o.k. I'll do the rest. Then I looked at the driver side and realized the truck has been repainted and it was bubbled and peeled a little under the molding so my molding is going to stay until I get the truck repainted.

Can you explain? I have an indicator that tells me when to clean it.

I don't know if this is what he meant but K & N filters are known to suck in dust. And dust in your intake isn't good for your engine and especially not the turbo
