Catastrophic Failure?
Got a '92 7.3l with an ATS 088 turbo. I know nearly nothing about this truck as I was planning on using it for parts. Anyway, threw two new batteries and some glow plugs and got her to start great. I decided to take her on the maiden voyage to the hardware store. Got to the store and noticed a small oil leak underneath the truck. I figured not a big deal since I only live a few blocks from the store. Started her up and went on my way home. I turned on my street and was roughly 20 seconds from my driveway. Within about 2 seconds the temp gauge went to full, a the engine started knocking hard, white smoke coming from the hood and the pipe, and as it died pulling into my driveway oil and coolant began gushing from every freaking crevice of the engine bay. How screwed is this motor?
By the way, figured she was blown so I threw some coolant and oil in it and it started without a problem, ran it for about 2 minutes and shut it down before it blew up the neighborhood.
