Air conditioning actuator substitute found

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to get my failing vacuum actuators to do their job. Well, they wont; one reason or another, they just wont. I didnt really want to buy some more 30something year old rubber parts, including NOS units because I worried about their ability to do the job properly.

At any rate, I was sure that something else would cross reference; officially, as far as I can tell, nothing did.

BUT...in the real world, if you need to replace these things (not counting the one for the recirculation door...I never needed to replace this one...), part number YH1666 for a Mercury Grand Marquis, fits great. There are some very minor physical differences but they mount the same and, so far, operate the selector doors properly.

Here are some pictures of my "Dry run,":

I've got a couple of extras laying around too, the problem is they are just as old as the ones I'm using.
This gives us some options.
