IDM upgrade

I have an 110v IDM, and I would like to upgrade it to 140v.
Found the right resistance, and then someone said why not upgrade it to 220v, and all your troubles are gone forever.

I have never heard of 220v upgrades, anybody here who has heard about it?

Yeah I wouldn't go any higher than 140. Just seems like bad juju could come your way if you do...

IIRC, max voltage the injector solenoids can handle is 160V. It has been documented that the additional response from voltages beyond 140V are negligible.

Even with the 140v, they are known to fail.

I am a little behind on this. What exactly does this do? I have an extra IDM that I could do this to, if it is even worth it. I don't want any potential problems.

Thanks Jim! I hate to sound dumb, but does this mean more power to the truck? I read through the info, but it seemed more to tell all of the perimeters more than the end result. Thanks.

In theory it could mean slightly more power. Maybe 10-15 hp, and that's a big maybe.

From what I'm told a little better snap on the throttle however I've not done it so will let others chime in. It's a easy mod to do if you know how to solder, if not then best to send it in and have it done.

Ah gotcha, alright. I think I'll leave mine alone. Too spendy to take the chance for me.

I should probably clarify Byron, they can fail but not very often. I have a 140v in the Mule and its been there for six years. I keep a spare though. LOL I got lucky and found a old TV repair man who put my resistor in, or what ever you call it.

Well 220v defiantly won't solve all of your troubles forever If you ever do the mod stick with the 140. It's a good cheap mod, I don't believe any one would gain the horse power that some have claimed.
