Rust?

2011 Super Duty 6.7L, CC/SB, 43K miles, washed it the other day and saw some pinhead sized rust spots on the front fenders and front doors, there are no corresponding chips in the paint, it looks like its coming from underneath.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? I won't have a chance to get to the dealer for about 10days or so and was wondering if mine is a one-off or a known issue.

Thanks.

What color is your truck? Usually what I see cause that is wear particles from the brakes or road debris cling to the truck and create a rust spot. Most easily noticed on lighter colored trucks like white. A little rubbing compound will take care of it.

I agree with Chad 149. My 2012 F250 is Ingot silver and shows these little rust specs. If you look real close they start as black specs and then turn to rust.

Yep, my truck is white. While I'm not at all concerned about getting it dirty, it's generally pretty clean. That said, it's also in need of a good polish/waxing job as well.

My truck is white. Every spring my truck is loaded with these spots and every spring I spend a day on it to get it clean. Good luck its a lot of work. I used a clay bar a section at a time. The best stuff a found was something called (The works tub & shower cleaner) not the toilet bowl cleaner. (Don't laugh) I have used it the last few years. Do 1 section at a time and don't let it dry on the paint. When your done polish your truck and then put a good coat of wax on it. Good Luck

Yep, it was brake dust. Managed to get to the dealer today and he used some sort of "cleaner" which looked a bit like wax and it came right out.

Thanks all.
