That is for the air pump. The can is the muffler for the inlet of the air pump. What is the open hose connected to. I took all the air pump stuff and air pump off my 460 when i redid the exhaust.

in the first pic the can just has that open ended spout....is there supposed to be a hos from it to somewhere else?

2nd pic.....that black alumin flex hose is just sitting there. Is it supposed to go somewhere? If it is, I can't find where, and it would have to be longer to go somewhere that is not close to the end of it

It's not supposed to have a hose. And I think the hose is for extra air that is not needed. All that stuff is standerd on the trucks with the 351 and 460.

I deleted everything along with the pump. The headers are not changed or plugged. I live in No CAL where I do not need to smog my truck.

Yes they are normal For your Thermactor System and do not go to anything.

The first photo is of the Thermactor Dump Silencer outlet.

The second photo is of the Thermactor Air Pump Inlet Silencer/Filter hose.

The Managed Air Thermactor System is utilized in electronic control systems to divert thermactor air either upstream to the exhaust manifold check valve or downstream to the rear section check valve and dual bed catalyst. The system will also dump thermactor air to the atmosphere during some operating modes.
