Which transmissions will fit. 1992 e4od 4x4

I need to replace my transmission. Trying to find a scrap yard replacement in Iowa is a pain. Here's what I got.... 1992 Ford F150 Flareside. 5.0 engine. 4x4. E4od. I guess there's several possibilities. Different J numbers and such

Are you sure your trans is dead? What is it doing that makes you think it needs to be replaced?

Have you checked codes and flushed the trans. If so then just add some lucus trans additive to get you by.
Craigslist or a junkyard search hasn't worked. Junkyarddog.com is helpful.

The reason I asked is because this trans is 100% computer controlled and many many people have it replaced or rebuilt only to find out it still does the same thing.. because the real problem was with a sensor or wiring.

If it turns out yours does need to be replaced then you will want an E4OD from a 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 truck of '89-94 vintage to be directly compatable, after that the solenoid pack was changed.
