Fuel press tester

Will an autozone fuel pressure tester for around $30. Work with the 6.0.

If it goes up to 80psi or better(100 psi is best). You will also need a metric adapter fitting for most kits. M12X1.25 male to fit the test port and whatever fits the gauge on the others end. I ordered mine from GloShift. There's not a lot of room before you run into the upper radiator hose so the shorter you can keep the adapter set-up the better.

Pressure while under load is what matters, idle pressure isn't a great indicator of how the regulator spring is holding up. Mine was over 50 at idle and fell to under 40 at WOT. So unless it's long enough to get into the cab it's not as useful a gauge as an installed one is. The cost difference between the autozone gauge vs a Glowshift 2" one isn't very much, and if this isn't meant to be used as a tool on multiple trucks, installing it permanently isn't a draw back.

The Ford bypass pressure tester is a regular gauge on a hose that connects to the test port, the gauge is on a tee fitting with a valve that can be opened to bypass some fuel that goes back into the tank with a long transparent hose. The amount of fuel bypassed is regulated by a 0.047" orifice and is identical to the amount of fuel used by the engine at full throttle. If you were handy and had the bits on hand you could make one in an hour. My engine showed 48 psi at idle and 41 at full throttle. With the upgraded spring I now have 62 psi at idle and the lowest it has gone is 58 psi.

41psi seems way low? So what do u think WOT should be. Anything above 55psi okay? Thanks,

Ford says 45 is ok but most see 50+ with a healthy system. That's at wide open throttle.

I used to use some in the oil field but the company I used to get them is no longer in buisness.
These are simular but they may not have what you need. I didn't check them for the exact sise you want.

Holly carb main jet #'s match drill sizes below .050, so a jet stamped 47 would work.

I found one later last night after I posted that.
Parker - Engineering Your Success - Motion Control Technology - Hydraulic Pneumatic Hoses Valves Pumps Cylinders Seals

Comes in flare fittings.
This way I don't have to come up with a holder.
